Stay strong, patient, allow for others not to understand what we are going through, this disease is not fatal, just frustrating, aggravating and somewhat depressing, but there is hope, you are not alone, we care

You can do this! I'm 48 next year and was diagnosed at 16, I live a very normal life, I work, I drive except at night. I wear sclerals and have had no surgeries. My vision is functional for my life style. Yes I struggle but there is so much to be greatful for in life. If I can do it, you can too.

It may seem sometimes that Kerataconus controls your life, but don't let it! Take control of your diagnosis with all the medical advances and live your life to the fullest!

Keratoconus is not just a complex eye condition that affects you physically, but psychologically and socially as well. However, there are effective treatments available. Make sure you see an Ophthalmologist specialising in the cornea. Additionally, there will be ups and downs. If I feel down, I remind myself that it's OK to sometimes not be OK, but I also remind myself of what I do have. πŸ™

Don't worry, it is going to be ok. There are great new treatments and contact lenses out today.

Don't give up! Don't rush to a transplant. There is no one contact\scleral lens that is great for everyone. Find a keratoconus specialist who can provide great vision. DON'T GIVE UP!

Among the many eye problems that can make ones life difficult #keratoconus is certainly one of them Requires great patience, NO eye-rubbing, and an experienced clinician to care for you for 3 reasons: 1- to maximize your visual function with glasses and or contact lenses 2- apply CXL when and if needed so to avoid a transplant 3- screen family members (especially teens) for #keratoconus expression and possibly offering #2 and last remember that life’s difficulties only make us stronger and more compassionate: Happy New Year!

Dear [Keratoconus] Fighter, I want you to know, you are not alone. I struggled for years with keratoconus but the last two years saw my sight decline. All of sudden I was unable to drive myself around, my family did the driving for me. I struggled for two years, attempting to find the perfect fitting lense. I was referred to alot of people but never got a perfect fitting lenses. Everytime I got discouraged and after every failed trial lenses I cried. I had to stop my studies and adjust my life. It was hard but my family would never let me give up so I kept fighting until I got a perfect lenses two months back. I know its long message but all I want to tell you is do not give up, keep fighting. Keep telling yourself ..... I am not keratoconusπŸ’ͺ

You are only beaten when lay down. Blindness is not a disability it’s just something else to get over. There are blind musicians, photographers and painters.

Diagnosis is not the end. It means that there's now openings to being helped. Things do get better. Some days will hurt more and make you feel like there's no point in trying, but each day your sight feels OK is a day your fighting back the condition. Each day you wear your lenses, or each day closer to surgery is a day closer in your fight to show that kerataconus won't win.
