Ever since the National Keratoconus Foundation (NKCF) has designated November 10 as World Keratoconus Day, this time of year has become important for keratoconus patients and eye care professionals all around the world. After all this is our once-in-a-year opportunity for all of us to focus on raising public awareness about keratoconus and how it affects our lives.
This November, in addition to World Keratoconus Day, our community is celebrating another important event. National Eye Donor Month which has been observed during March for last 35 years, is now celebrated during November. corneal transplants changes lives of thousands of keratoconus patients every year, and celebrating these two events together helps us to raise awareness with a grater impact.
Eye Donation Month is sponsored by Eye Bank Association of America. The theme for this year's campaign is The Power of You which demonstrates the power that individuals have in building hope, restoring sight and changing lives, including healthcare professionals and partners, researchers, eye bank staff, corneal surgeons, and recipients and donor families.
