My Broken Lens Saga

My Broken Lens Saga
So, yesterday morning I broke my RGP lens...I did the right thing and went to work anyway, despite the fact that I could really only see colours and shapes (not great when I work as an admin officer at one of the busiest hospitals in nsw)

I emailed Heidi (my AMAZING optometrist) and she reassured me that I wasn't the first and wouldn't be the last person to break a lens. She told me she would order an urgent replacement but it may take 1 to 2 weeks. I won't lie, I was pretty devastated...having the gift of sight given to me and then having it gone in an instant was awful because I KNEW what I was missing. My glasses don't help at all in the scheme of things (they're from a 2-3 year old script that is vastly different from what my eyes currently are). Things like crossing the road, going to the supermarket and even doing the job I've been employed at for 7 years felt impossible again.

But, today I got a phone message and an email saying the replacement lens had arrived! Only a day later (although it was 2 work days of glasses-wearing) and I'm now back wearing my RGP on top of a soft lens.

I couldn't be happier right now.

I have the BEST optometrist and I really can't thank her enough and whoever it was in the lab that expedited the transit of my replacement lens is a champion!!!

I've attached some pics of my broken lens and the closest I can edit a picture to how I see with glasses (you can imagine your own double vision, ghosting and halos because I also have those but that's too much effort for me to add to a pic.
